The short answer

Five contract rules to agree before work starts

A project agreement needs to say when work is approved, how a paused project restarts, when ownership transfers, and how many revisions are included. Keep those terms in one master agreement and write a separate scope for each project. The guide covers the five rules from the reel, with sample wording to adapt and review with a lawyer.

Does silence automatically mean approval?

Only use an approval window that is already in the agreement. Identify the delivered stage and give the client time to report problems against its scope. Approval of a design does not approve an unfinished build or extra charges

Does a restart fee apply whenever a client goes quiet?

No. A restart fee needs to be in the accepted quote or a separate restart agreement accepted in writing. Confirm the remaining work, dates and availability before picking the project back up

Can I use the guide as my whole contract?

No. It explains five parts of an agreement, with sample clauses to adapt. It is not a complete contract or legal advice. Have a lawyer review the full agreement for your work and location

What this page is, and isn't

  • This is not legal advice. Have a lawyer review your agreement for your work and location.
  • The names, businesses and figures shown in the reel are fictional examples.
  • A restart fee needs written agreement. Time passing does not create an automatic charge.
